Title: Traumatic Brain Injury and mental health: an e-Iearning resource for clinicians

Authors: Strettles, B.; Jungfer, P.; Bullen, P.; Agnew, G.; Gertler, P.;

E-learning is recognised as an acceptable and successful model of education for rehabilitation staff (ref 1). This model of education is highly practical in Australia where geographical isolation can prove a barrier to further learning. Clinicians working with people with TBI often struggle to understand the impact of mental health comorbidities. The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Directorate, a clinical network of the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation received a grant from the Life Time Care and Support Authority to develop 3 e learning modules about mental health and TBI.

This exhibition provides the opportunity for conference participants to view on-line 3 new modules based on previous work by Dr Patricia Jungfer and available at the www.tbistafftraining.info site.

Excerpts will be demonstrated from the two e-learning modules:

a) Mental Health and TBI – An introduction (a self learning module for staff and family members)

b) Mental Health and TBI - Challenges in Diagnosis and Management (a self learning module for clinicians)

and the reference work for clinicians:

Mental Health and TBI Tookit for reference: etiology, assessment and management for: mood disorders; psychotic disorders; anxiety disorders; behaviour and personality disorders

Importantly, this exhibition will improve the awareness of these e-learning education resources and the usefulness of the material for rehabilitation clinicians, other staff, families and people with TBI and mental health co-morbidities.
